Fangdarr writhed desperately against the immovable strands as the creature drew near. It’s eight glimmering eyes stared emptily above the anxiously chittering fangs. Fear stripped away rationality as he felt the beast’s blade-like teeth sink in, spreading their venom in burning agony. Muscles melted, bones disintegrated, yet his sight remained.

I never realized I had a fear of heights until I climbed the ladder attached to the side of a small water tower in my home town. As I reached the top, I began to shake uncontrollably before feeling myself slowly paralyze in fear.
Great piece, Angela! I actually did the same once (though I knew I was slightly afraid of heights before) by climbing up a service tower that sat over the train tracks at my school. I’m not sure what was worse, the height or the train passing beneath me. Probably both. 🙂
