Writing Prompt: Microfictions
Follow along each week for a 50-word Fantasy writing prompt and comment your own responses!
Special Rule: For this week, we’ll be doing microfictions. Instead of one response at 50-words, do 10 responses at 5 words. This is meant to show you different ways to use abrupt sentences to increase impact.
- It is done. We lost.
- Our last hope has fallen.
- The light in her dwindled.
- Rage burned intensely within Fangdarr.
- Blood erupted all over him.
- The wound couldn’t be staunched.
- Desperation made him swing wildly.
- Her child’s eyes closed forever.
- It wailed in woeful agony.
- Broken. Weary. He had failed.

1. Fangdarr’s intense bloodlust took over.
2. Purplish brain matter flailed aimlessly.
3. The cries of agony echoed.
4. But to them, no avail.
5. For the deed was done.
6. The enemy was no longer.
8. It’s mangled form lay lifeless.
9. What had Fangdarr just done?
10. Shame left him temporarily paralyzed.
