Writing Prompt: Song
Each week, there is a 50-word Writing Prompt for a Fantasy concept on a forum that is based on a single provided word. I try to do them within the world of Orcblood Legacy, so that I can explore different ways to consider parts of the series.
Prompt: Song
The sepulchral tone emanated deep within his mind, echoing in tantalizing embrace. Fangdarr drifted closer and closer toward the gaping maw, unable to resist its call.
As its prey approached, the phantasmal fiend sank sharpened ivory into the orc’s flesh, feasting with ravenous vigor. And still the sweet sound played.

They say the universe is made up of songs. A low thruming that bleeds across the cosmos. I don’t really remember that part. There was the light, then the explosion. Or, as the mortals call it, the Big Bang. And suddenly, more music! Loud crashes and heavy beats. Melodies and tones. As new galaxies spread across this portion of cosmos. Each producing more music! Different music! The world was created on a sing, but it’s inhabitants have long forgotten its rhythm, its tune.
Great piece, Jasmine. Expressive and a great perspective on the creation of the cosmos.

Great final line!
Her cries were lost in the intermittent gusts ricocheting throughout the canyon. The river far below beckoned to her, singing both dirge and exultation simultaneously. Unable to face the jubilant creature, she turned before stepping backward to the depths. Certain as she had to fall, he had to eat.
Nice piece! Great sense of imagery.
