Writing Prompt: Extermination

Writing Prompt: Extermination

This week is a bit different. You do not need to keep it under 50 words, this time. Just make it as short or as long as you want. Why? Check out the Special Rule!

Special Rule: Poem time! Make your response a Poem. It can be any number of words and does not need to follow any sort of structure, including rhyming. Just have fun!

Swift and true, so it sang,
Against his armor, with a bang.

The squish of flesh, now torn asunder,
A costly mistake, his faulty blunder.

Bursts of red, so deep in hue,
The deepest pain, he ever knew.

As he bled, he fell to the floor,
The last living man, felt no more.

  1. Candlelight shines on the dancers below –
Their faces contort in the reverie.
Shadows flicker in the soft golden glow –
Screams of joy burst through the refectory.
Arms and legs shift in time to the music –
Voices drown in the old celebration.
The men wear faces that once were human –
They all writhe in their happy damnation.
For centuries they dance to forget sons –
And daughters and mothers lost to the Fall.
They caused their own grief for their loved ones –
They summoned the One – their Kingdom’s downfall.
Their country lost to extermination –
So the men dance to stave rumination.
